PATH Admissions Criteria and Process

Who is eligible to participate in the PATH Transition program?

  • Individuals ages 18-25 with a documented primary diagnosis of autism
  • Individuals who are motivated to engage in all aspects of the program including all academic and social activities
  • Individuals who have appropriate social, emotional, and behavioral skills to participate in all aspects of the program

Participants must be able to:

  • Participate in a classroom setting and navigate a college campus independently
  • Participate in vocational training and internship experiences
  • Participate in group discussions with multiple points of view
  • Receive and implement feedback

The PATH program is not suitable for individuals who:

  • Have challenging or severe behaviors
  • Engage in self-injurious behaviors
  • Engage in behaviors that have the potential to harm others
  • Have an aversion to noise or groups
  • Need assistance with self-care or medication administration

The Application Process:

  1. Complete the application form. The applicant should complete the form as independently as possible.
  2. Obtain 2 recommendations using the recommendation form. This form should be completed by a non-family member who has direct knowledge of the individual’s educational and vocational abilities.
  3. Submit the completed application and recommendations along with the following documentation:
    1. Official High School transcript
    2. Most recent IEP
    3. If applicable, Educational Evaluations
    4. If applicable, Psychological/Behavioral Evaluation
    5. If applicable, transcripts/certificates from post-secondary experiences
    6. If applicable, guardianship documentation
    7. Submit all documentation by attaching it to the last page of the application form
  4. Submit the completed Applicant Questionnaire. The applicant should complete this form independently.
  5. Applicants who are eligible will be invited to participate in an interview.
  6. Applicants will be notified of their application status by email.
